Joey Andrews is

progressive millennial who is passionate about bringing a fresh perspective and values to Lansing. Born and raised in St. Joseph, MI, Joey attended and graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School. He then went on to attend Carson-Newman University in Tennessee where he received two bachelor’s degrees in four years in History and Music. He then returned to Michigan to attend Wayne State University School of Law in Detroit earning his J.D. and becoming licensed to practice law in Michigan shortly thereafter.

After law school Joey returned to the area to help his parents bring their businesses out of the recession and into the economic recovery in 2013. In 2015 he founded Parasol Solar, LLC with two college friends for the purpose of installing solar panels in Southwest Michigan and East Tennessee. In the process of completing several installations around Berrien County, Joey has become a stalwart advocate for solar energy and environmental causes in the area.

Joey is dedicated and passionate about the causes he believes in. Whether it was writing letters to congressmen and senators to fight for Michigan’s solar net metering laws future, or participating in local events for the economic improvement and redevelopment of Southwest Michigan - Joey believes that we have to be future-focused and remember that the world we build today is the one we leave our children and grandchildren in the future.

Joey’s values and beliefs are deeply rooted in his family and Catholic upbringing, providing a vigor for justice for those who need it most. His maternal grandparents immigrated from Germany after World War 2, and his Oma instilled in him that America was a place where we welcome and uplift all who wish to belong. His Paternal grandfather was a Korean War veteran, successful entrepreneur, and restaurateur who fostered Joey’s enterprising spirit and empathy for small and local business people and growers. Joey’s parents demonstrated the value of working hard and never giving up in the face of adversity, a value that he will to take with him to Lansing as an advocate for a better future.
